Set up and configure the Asus router - how it works
If you have a new Asus router, you must configure it before using it. In our instructions you can read how this works the easiest.
Before setting up: Connect the Asus router
Before you can set up the Asus router via the user interface or the app, first connect it. This is how it works:
- When setting up for the first time, you should set up your Asus router preferably using a LAN cable instead of using WLAN. Then you can also access the Internet wirelessly.
- First connect the router to an electrical outlet and to the telephone socket.
- Then plug one end of the network cable into the Asus router and the other into your computer. The LAN LED should now start to flash.
- The Asus router is now connected to your computer.
How to configure your router
You can make settings relating to your Internet connection in a graphical interface via your browser.
- As soon as the Asus router is connected to your computer, enter the following address in your browser: 192.168.1.1
- Alternatively, enter the web address //router.asus.com instead of the IP address.
- Now log in. When logging in for the first time, both the user name and the password are "admin" - without quotes.
- You can now find all setting options via the menus of the graphical user interface.
In the graphical user interface of your Asus router, for example, you can set up a secure VPN tunnel - how it works you can read in the next practical tip.
