Reset Asus - how it works
Asus devices can be reset very easily. This is especially advisable if your PC has gross malfunctions or if the speed leaves something to be desired.
You have to consider this when you reset your Asus computer
Before you start the actual process, you should definitely back up the personal data from your notebook, as it will be lost when you reset it. You can find everything about data backup in our backup Bible.
Step 1: disable Asus Boot Booster
The Boot Booster from Asus is very useful in everyday use. However, it must be deactivated before you can reset your notebook. Here's how it works:
- Open the BIOS menu by pressing the [F2] key several times during PC startup.
- Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate to the BOOT tab in the BIOS menu.
- Now move the marker to the "Asus Boot Booster" entry and press the [Enter] key.
- In the blue window that appears, go to the "Disabled" entry and press [Enter].
- Now close the BIOS menu by selecting the "Exit and save changes" option in the last tab (Exit).
Step 2: reset Asus PC
Now you can reset your Asus PC with the following steps. Your laptop can restart itself several times during this process. If you reset your notebook, you should connect it to the charger.
- Press the F9 key several times until "Please wait" appears under the Windows character.
- Now click on the "Troubleshoot" option and then select the second entry "Reset PC".
- Now a message from Windows appears that all files will be lost and the settings will be reset. Confirm this message and click in the next window on the field "All partitions".
- In the next window you can choose whether you want to completely empty the memory of your PC (recommended if you are selling your PC) or whether you want to keep your personal files. However, a data backup is recommended in both cases if something goes wrong during the reset.
- Now the PC starts the process automatically. Depending on the option, this can take up to several hours. You can then restore your files if necessary and use your PC again.
