Save Audacity file as MP3 - Here's how
With Audacity you can save the edited sound file as MP3 and play it on almost any player. Read the individual steps in this article and find out which settings you have to make.
How to save Audacity files as MP3
- In Audacity, click File> Export. If you only want to save certain sequences, you have to mark them beforehand and then select "Export selection".
- Now enter the storage path and select "MP3 file" as the file type (see image).
- Under "Options" you can now refine the MP3 settings and, for example, increase the audio quality (see picture).
- Finally press "Save" so that Audacity starts to export the MP3.
- Now save the entire project under "File"> "Save project" so that all edits can be adjusted later.
The instructions refer to Audacity 2.0.3. If the MP3 export does not work, this could be due to the missing MP3 codec "Lame". Further helpful tips can also be found in our tutorial with the most important basics.
