Audacity: Record system sound - so it'll work
With the free software Audacity you can easily record and edit system sounds. Here's how to do it.
Record system sounds with Audacity
- Look for the small microphone icon in the toolbar, next to which there is a dropdown list (see image). Here you will find different names depending on the computer, for example the name of the sound card or "Microsoft Soundmapper". It is important that you do not select "Microphone ....".
- With a click on the record button all system sounds are recorded. The stop button ends the recording again.
- You can save the finished recording via "File"> "Export ...".
