Add a comment function on tumblr: How it works
Like many other websites and blogs, Tumblr does not have its own comment function. The Disqus service remedies this and integrates such a comment function for you.
Register at Disqus.com for comments
- Open the Disqus website.
- On the left, enter the URL of your Tumblr blog, its name and a short name for the Disqus URL (see picture). The short name must be the same as the name of your tumblr blog in the URL. In this example, the blog URL is testforchip.tumblr.com. So we choose "testforchip" as the short name.
- On the right side you now have to enter a username and password for your Disqus account and your email address. Then click the "Continue" button.
- On the next page select Tumblr from the various services and click "Continue" again.
- Finally, you will learn how to link Tumblr to Disqus. This is also explained in the next paragraph, so press the orange button again. Your Disqus account is now successfully set up.
Integrate Disqus into Tumblr
- Open the settings of Tumblr and select the desired blog on the left side.
- Now enter the short name of the blog, which you set to Disqus when you registered (see picture). As a rule, however, this should already be set.
- Then click on "Save" at the top right of the screen. Now your blog has a comment function. This can be managed via Disqus, but you do not necessarily have to continue to access the service.
This practical tip shows you how to find other templates and integrate them into your blog and make it more individual.
