Create a foreign PSN account - how it works

Some games and demos are not to be found in the German PSN store - it often helps to create a foreign account. We show how to do it.

How to create a foreign PSN account

You cannot change the country with an existing account, a new account must be created.

• First log out of your normal account. To do this, for example, press the home button on your dualshock controller and select "Change user" in the power menu.
• Here you select "New user" and "Create user". You accept the following agreements.
• Then select the option "New to Playstation Network? Create an account". After selecting "Register now" you will finally get to the regional options.
• Here you select the desired region and follow the further steps. If you want to get games indexed in Germany, you can create an Austrian account, for example. The US store offers the same advantage, but also has a larger range of demos and is often a little more up-to-date. Caution: The language changes automatically.
• You will be asked for your address, which of course should be in the country of your choice. For example, find a hotel that is in the desired region and use its address.
• Then follow the next steps. You may have to create a new email account for your additional account.
• You must "activate" the question whether the system should be set up as the primary PS4. This ensures that you can also play the downloaded games on your Germany account.
• Now you have created an account and can access the foreign store. However, please note that you created the account with incorrect information. Theoretically, Sony could have it and all content acquired blocked.

Foreign PSN account - top up credit

In order to be able to shop in the foreign PSN store, you need the corresponding credit.

• In this case, simply topping up the credit via PayPal does not work. You are registered with a German address at the payment service, so payment for the foreign shop is refused.
• Instead, buy credit cards with codes for the respective country. You can get such cards from Amazon, for example. Depending on the country selected, you will need to change the address on your account.
• Alternatively, you can get the credit cards from various key dealers. Make sure to buy the right credit card for your chosen country.
