Emigrating with a child is no longer as difficult as it used to be. Depending on which country you choose, there is a good chance that the children will take the move well and easily find a connection.
You must take this into account when emigrating with a child
Emigrating alone or with a partner is not easy. There are many things to plan and consider. With children the whole thing becomes a lot more difficult. So that your offspring are also well in the new country, you should consider a few things beforehand:
- Care: Find out about kindergartens and schools. How is the system regulated in your target country? Sometimes kindergartens and schools cost a lot of money. Think about whether you can really afford these costs.
- Language: Another obstacle is often language. How should your children get in touch if they don't speak the language of the new country? Preparation is particularly important for schoolchildren. Your child should definitely start learning the language of the new country at least one year in advance. Learn the new language yourself in good time. Finally, you need to enroll your child in school or kindergarten and help them learn the new language.
- Bureaucracy: Find out which documents are required for entry and residence. You may have to apply for them a few months in advance.
- Long-term planning: ask yourself whether you want to live permanently in the country or whether it should only be a break. Maybe you will only get a temporary visa at first. If your children are still small, you will probably be able to cope with a few years in a foreign country better than if you are already at school and have a group of friends.
More tips for moving to another country
You now know the most important things to consider. Since emigration is a very complex topic, there is a lot more to consider:
- Also think about your children's future! School degrees in particular are sometimes difficult to recognize in other countries. But these are the most important if you are looking for an apprenticeship or study later.
- Pay attention to the new environment! It is best to travel to the new country beforehand and not only choose a new apartment or house via the Internet. Otherwise you will not notice beforehand whether the district is particularly prone to crime or violence.
- You should also consider whether you want to give up your apartment or house in Germany or keep something else as a precaution. The cost of emigration is of course slightly higher. If your plans fail, you can quickly return to your old environment.
