Auto: Read errors via app - how it works
Errors in your car are analyzed via the "On Board Diagnostic System" (OBD). However, you can also read out the error via the app and output it using an error message. This guide shows you how to do this with your smartphone.
Read error codes on the car using the app - this is how you proceed
The following tools can be used to easily read out faults on the car:
- First you need this Bluetooth adapter. You must insert this into your OBD-2 slot on the car. You can find information about this in the manual. Note: This feature is only available for certain vehicles from a certain year of construction! Find out in advance whether this also applies to your vehicle.
- A suitable app is also required. We therefore recommend the free OBD app Torque Lite, which is only available for Android smartphones. Unfortunately there is currently no compatible app for iOS devices.
- Once you have successfully connected the adapter, you need to start the ignition and look for the Bluetooth signal.
- Then connect your smartphone to the reader and start the app. You will then receive all the statistics about your vehicle.
- If an error message appears, it is brought directly to the smartphone display via pop-up. This includes: the error code and a description. You can search for this error message directly on the Internet. Or you can look up the manual or contact a workshop.
