Turn off auto-completion in Internet Explorer
When you tap in the address bar of the IE, previously visited sites appear for selection - even if you have previously deleted the browsing history. This auto-completion can be turned off - how, read here.
Disconnect Internet Explorer from Windows Search
The phenomenon results from the very close link between Internet Explorer and Windows search. Visited websites are indexed there and offers from the index are suggested when entering similar URLs again. This function enhancement only exists from Internet Explorer 8 and under earlier Windows XP, provided that the Windows search is installed there. If you do not want the browsing history to be indexed, you can separate the integration of the two services.
- To do this, open the command »Tools | in Internet Explorer Internet Options «or click on the settings icon and then on» Internet Options «.
- Then switch to the "Contents" tab and click on "Settings" in the "AutoComplete" area.
- Deactivate the option »Windows Search for better search results« and, if available, also »Suggest URLs«.
- Now you can next delete the history of "AutoComplete" and clean it up in the following dialog. Then confirm the open dialog with »OK«.
