How to turn off auto-correction on Mac OS X.
If you don't want to read over every text you've just typed, you can use autocorrection in Mac OS X. Sometimes, however, this changes correctly spelled words. In the following steps you will read how to switch off the auto correction.
- Open the settings by clicking on the Apple icon in your menu bar and selecting "System Settings ...".
- In the second row, tap on "Keyboard".
- Navigate to the "Text" tab.
- Remove the checkmark next to "Automatic correction".
- Mac OS X now underlines misspelled terms instead of replacing them. You decide whether you want to make a change.
The explanation is based on Mac OS X 10.9.3. Other versions differ. If you would like to make further language-specific changes, read further articles on how to change the language or set a different keyboard layout under Mac OS.
