Automatic music recognition on Mac - so it'll work
We'll show you how you can use the automatic music detection familiar from smartphones on Mac.
Tunatic: Music detection with the Mac
With the free program Tunatic, the automatic music detection comes to your Mac.
- With Shazam, you can use it to automatically search for your music on Mac, as with your Android or iOS device, if you don't know a song.
- The program gives you both the title and artist of the song.
Music recognition on Mac: how it works with Tunatic
- Start the Tunatic program.
- A small widget will appear on your screen. You can see from the wave in the middle when it detects sounds. Note that the music is recorded via the Mac's built-in microphone and therefore does not work through headphones.
- Clicking the magnifying glass on the left starts the music recognition.
- After the song has been successfully recorded, the title and artist of the song are automatically displayed.
- If it doesn't work directly, you may try different volumes. Maybe the recording was too quiet or too loud.
