Set up automatic updates on the PS4 - Here's how
You can set up automatic updates on your PS4 system so that new versions of the operating system and game updates are downloaded immediately when available. In this case, the Playstation 4 switches on automatically in the standby mode and updates content. In our practical tip you will learn how to do it.
PS4 - Enable automatic downloads
First, automatic downloads must be activated in the settings of your game console so that your system has the permission to download updates for your software immediately.
- Start your PS4 and log in with your user account. Then press up on your directional pad or left stick.
- Open the menu item "System" and then "Automatic Downloads and Uploads".
- Activate the checkmark next to "Enable automatic downloads and uploads".
Set up automatic updates for the PS4
Now your user account must log in automatically and the standby mode must be activated. You configure these functions as follows:
- After logging in with your user account, press the up button again and select "Settings".
- Next, open "Settings" on the far right and then "Energy saving settings".
- Now press "Set functions available in standby mode".
- Now you have to check the box next to the option "Connect to the Internet" and then next to "Activate the PS4 from the network".
- Now you just have to press the PS button on your controller a little longer and press the "Switch off PS4" option. Your Playstation 4 will now go into standby mode. You can see this from the indicator light on the PS4, which now glows orange.
