Generate an automatic list of figures in LaTeX
In LaTex you can create an automatic list of figures in just a few steps, which independently updates numbering and page numbers. We'll explain how to do it.
Create an automatic list of figures in LaTeX
In order for you to have a list of figures created automatically in LaTeX, only five steps are necessary. In the following picture gallery we show you the LaTeX code and the resulting PDF document.
- Load the Graphicx package with the command "\ usepackage {graphicx}".
- Put the code "\ listoffigures" after the command "\ begin {document}". This later creates a list of figures, which is updated automatically.
- Include graphics like EPS, JPG, PDF or PNG files as usual. Use the "\ includegraphics" command in the "figure" environment.
- Now the important thing: Put the code "\ caption [] {}" behind "\ includegraphics". Write the short heading in the square brackets that should appear in the list of figures and the caption in the curly brackets.
- Now you have to create an active document at least twice. The short titles are read in the first time and integrated in the automatic list of figures the second time.
