Car radio rustles: these tricks help
There can be simple reasons why your car radio is rustling. You should also differentiate whether it is a short or constant noise. Read here which tricks will help you in both cases:
- Cell phone: It is often the cell phone that causes the problems. If you place it too close to the radio or directly in the shelf underneath, the frequencies overlap and the noise is generated. Therefore, you should not put the cell phone near the radio in the future. This also applies to other mobile devices that use certain frequencies.
- Position: You can also stop short noise if you change the position of your car. This is particularly useful if you are in rural areas and park your car. Just a few meters can be enough to significantly improve the reception of your car radio.
- Amplifier: If the reception is permanently poor, you can improve it with a special amplifier for car radios. You can supply the amplifier via the normal twelve volt voltage of the car. Then connect the amplifier to the radio and reception will improve significantly.
- Antenna: A simple trick to improve reception is to check the antenna. It is often a simple loose contact between the antenna and the radio. Before you buy more individual parts or a new antenna, you should therefore check the connections between the antenna and the radio. If there is no error, you should replace the antenna with a new one.
- Tip: Old cars in particular have long antennas that are also clearly visible from the outside. If you have a smaller antenna, you can replace it with a longer one and improve reception. All you have to do is make sure that you buy an antenna that has the same thread as the previous one. Then screw in the new antenna and check whether the reception has improved.
The car radio itself may also be defective, so you should replace it with a new one. Therefore, in the next home article you will learn what you should consider if you want to install a different car radio.
