Autorun blocked - what now?
Your antivirus program may block Windows autorun. However, this is only a security measure of your virus protection program and not a matter of concern. We'll show you how to reactivate the blocked autorun.
Start the software automatically with the Windows autorun
Avira AntiVir most often deactivates autorun because the virus protection program blocks the autorun function by default. However, if you prefer the convenience of autorun, do the following:
- Right-click on the Avira icon in the task bar and select "Open Avira".
- A pop-up will appear. Move your mouse over the "Free Antivirus" item and click on the "Open" button.
- Click on the "Tools" tab above and select "Configuration" from the context menu.
- Now a new window opens. Press the "General" option on the left-hand side and select the "Security" sub-item.
- Remove the check mark at "Block autorun function".
- When you are sure, click on the "OK" button.
We recommend that you prefer to start the programs manually and leave the blocked autorun as the added security outweighs the convenience. In addition, you should configure Avira AntiVir something in order to be optimally protected against the dangers from the Internet. This tip applies to Avira Free AntiVirus 14.
