By default, Avast Antivirus shows pop-up notifications about certain events. In this article, we will tell you how to deactivate the messages.
Disable pop-up notifications in Avast Antivirus
Whether ads, updates or alarms - Avast Antivirus shows numerous pop-up notifications, especially in the free version. You can switch off the messages at any time using the settings.
- To do this, open the Avast Antivirus user interface.
- At the top right click on the menu icon with the three horizontal bars and select the "Settings".
- Then switch to the "General" tab and click on the small, downward-pointing arrow next to the "Popups" entry.
- Using the expanded menu, you can specify exactly which popup messages you want to receive and which not. To deactivate the notifications, remove the check in front or set the display time to 0 seconds.
- Finally, click "OK" to save.
Avast messages: These settings exist
With Avast Antivirus, you can disable the five different notifications. The individual entries are in detail:
- Show popup offers for other Avast products: This function sends notifications about other Avast products. You can only deactivate this advertising in the paid version of Avast Antivirus.
- Information Popups: These messages display information about Avast's general activities. For example, a pop-up appears when Avast ends the search.
- Update messages: This popup shows information about updates of program and virus definitions.
- Warning messages: Only deactivate this pop-up if you no longer wish to receive warnings about potential risks, for example when opening an unknown file.
- Alerts: These notifications let you know about threat detections and other important incidents. For security reasons, you should not deactivate these messages.
