Avast: Recover Deleted Files - Here's How
Sometimes Avast can remove files that are still needed. The deleted files can, however, be restored at any time since they are in quarantine as backup copies.
Avast: restore backups of deleted files
- Start Avast. In the start menu click on "Scan" on the left and then on "Scan for viruses".
- Select "Quarantine (Virus Container)" below.
- Right click on the file to be restored and select "Restore".
- Then confirm the restore. By default, the file is restored to its original location.
Avast: Prevent unwanted file removal
There are a few settings in the antivirus program so that Avast will no longer need to delete the files it needs. To do this, open the Avast user interface.
- Click on "Settings" in the overview.
- There you activate the "DeepScreen". This Avast technology is responsible for making better real-time decisions about unknown files.
- In the "Settings" under "Exceptions" you can enter paths and URLs that are excluded from the search and real-time protection. However, be careful with these settings.
