Avast cannot be uninstalled - you can do that
Malware and other antivirus programs can often prevent Avast from uninstalling normally. However, with a few small tricks, you can completely remove the antivirus tool. We'll show you exactly how to do it.
Uninstall Error: Avast cannot be removed
You usually uninstall programs like Avast Antivirus using Windows Control Panel. However, if an error occurs here, only a special uninstall kit will help:
- Download the free program "Avast Clear" and run the EXE file.
- If you confirm the warning with "Yes", Windows restarts in safe mode. This way you can really remove all Avast file remnants later.
- In the program window, use the "Browse" button at the top to select the Avast installation directory. If you are unsure where the program files are located, simply leave the field empty. The Avast Cleaner then searches for the files by itself.
- Finally, select your installed Avast version from the dropdown menu below and click "Continue".
- "Avast Clear" now removes all data from your virus scanner. Then restart your computer to complete the uninstallation.
