Avast won't start - you can do that
If Avast does not start, the PC cannot be effectively protected against viruses and other malware. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do if you have problems of this kind with Avast.
Avast Antivirus won't start - so fix the problem
Avast must be started so that your PC remains protected against malware. Use the tips below to fix the problem:
- Make sure that no other antivirus program is installed on your PC besides Avast.
- You should also turn off the internal Windows firewall when using Avast.
- If a second antivirus program is running in addition to Avast, you must uninstall it completely. This works for example with the free tool Revo Uninstaller.
- Then search for Avast in the Revo Uninstaller and double-click on it. Then select “Advanced” as the method.
- Follow the instructions on the screen. Make sure that you mark the remaining folders and registry entries and remove them from the PC with a click on "Delete".
- Finally, you have to restart your PC. Avast should then start normally.
- If this is not the case, you can reinstall Avast. Uninstall the software via Revo Uninstaller so that all remains are removed.
- In principle, you should install all updates from your system and Avast immediately to ensure security.
