Uninstalling Avast on Windows - How to remove the virus scanner
If you are unhappy with Avast or have problems with the program, you should uninstall it from your computer. We'll show you how to do a complete uninstall.
Step 1: Download a new anti-virus program
Before you remove Avast from your system, you should first download new anti-virus software. So don't leave your computer unprotected on the Internet. The following free programs are good alternatives to Avast:

- Comodo Internet Security
- BitDefender Antivirus Free Edtion
Step 2: Uninstall Avast on Windows
Anti-virus programs have a deep impact on the system compared to other software. This means that some data remains in the system after installation. As an alternative to the standard uninstallation, you can completely remove Avast as follows.
- For the best possible result, you should start Windows in safe mode beforehand.
- Now download the Avast Clear tool and start it without installation.
- Select the installed product below and click the "Uninstall" button.
- Avast will now uninstall itself. For security reasons, you should now disconnect from the Internet at the latest.
Step 3: Install a new anti-virus program
Now start the EXE file of the new anti-virus software. After successful installation you can restore the internet connection and update the program to the latest version.
