Avira: do an offline update - how it works
You should always keep your Avira installation up to date. You can also carry out the update offline. In this practical tip, we will explain exactly how to do this.
Avira: do an offline update - how it works
Avira normally updates itself automatically in the background so that you do not have to update the virus definitions manually. However, if your PC is not connected to the Internet, you can import existing virus database updates yourself. Avira offers a free tool for this.
- First download the "Avira Fusebundle Generator" either directly from the manufacturer or in the Chip download archive.
- Extract the downloaded archive into any directory on your hard drive.
- Start the "Fusebundle.exe". The latest virus database is now downloaded and saved as a ZIP archive with the name "vdf_fusebundle.zip" in the "install" subdirectory.
- Open Avira. First click on "Update" in the menu bar and then on "Manual update ...".
- Now select the ZIP archive (vdf_fusebundle.zip) created in the previous step and wait until the update has been completed.
