Setting up the AVM repeater: simply explained
If you bought an AVM repeater, setting it up is no problem. In this practical tip, we will show you which steps are necessary.
Set up AVM Repeater with WPS
The most convenient method is to set up using the WPS button.
- Plug the repeater into a socket, preferably near your router. AVM repeaters work best with a FRITZ! Box.
- Press and hold the WPS button on the repeater for about six seconds. As soon as the WLAN indicator flashes, you can let go.
- Now press and hold the WLAN button on the router for six seconds until the WLAN LED flashes.
- The connection between the repeater and router is now set up automatically. You can then plug the repeater into any socket, ideally halfway between the router and the device that you use WLAN, such as the computer.
Set up AVM Repeater via browser for WLAN
If the repeater and router are connected, the AVM is still set up for the computer via the browser.
- Plug the repeater into a socket and establish a WLAN connection to the repeater.
- Open your browser and enter "//fritz.repeater/" in the URL line. You need the password for this. With AVM repeaters, the zero is specified as the network key, ie "00000000".
- The wizard will then guide you through the setup. First you set your own password. Then select your network and log in with the corresponding password.
- You can find out how WLAN repeaters did in the test in our leaderboard.
If you have problems with your repeater, contact the AVM hotline. You will find the Fritzbox service telephone number in our next practical tip.
