Simply peel the avocado: how it works
We show you how you can simply peel avocados and cut them into beautiful pieces or slices. Because the fruits are not only tasty and healthy, but are also perfect for spicing up many dishes.
Peeling avocado made easy: the first steps
First of all, you need to make sure that the avocado is ripe. The quickest way is with a simple pressure test. Press lightly into the bowl with your thumb. If this gives way, the inside is ripe and the avocado is edible. Hard avocados should be left to mature a little.
- Now cut lengthways around the fruit with a sharp knife, along the avocado core.
- Now you can pull the two avocado halves apart with a slight twist.
- Now let the knife blade fall slightly into the stone so that it gets stuck in it. Again with a slight twist, the core loosens and remains on the blade.
How to peel the avocado with your fingers
In the next step, quarter the avocado, so you cut the two halves in half again. This cut is rotated 90 degrees to the first.
- The shell can now be removed from the four avocado parts with your fingers. The fruit is peeled.
- Alternative "peeling method": Carefully cut the halved fruit with a knife into a diamond shape. If you do not injure the bowl while doing this, you can remove the avocado pieces with a spoon.
If you cut your avocado open too early, so if it is still raw, you don't have to throw it away. In another article we will explain to you whether you can eat raw avocado.
