Backslash on Mac: how it works
Do you want to enter a backslash (\) on your Mac but can't find it on the keyboard? No wonder, because there is no key for the backslash on the MacBook or the Apple Wireless Keyboard. A simple shortcut can help here.
Backslash on Mac with a simple shortcut
On Mac, the backslash is hidden behind a simple key combination:
- Press and hold the [alt] key.
- In addition, press and hold the Shift key. The Shift key is the key you use when, for example, you want to write capital letters.
- Now tap the [7] key and voilà: there is the backslash! Now you can let go of all the buttons.
Also try other keys in combination with [Alt] and Shift! You will be surprised which special characters you can enter on your Mac. In this practical tip, we will introduce you to even more useful Mac shortcuts.
