Backup with RSYNC - a guide
On your Linux Ubuntu you can quickly and easily create a backup of your files with RSYNC. We show you exactly how this works in this practical tip.
Perform backup with RSYNC - this is how you back up your files
- Open the terminal under Linux and issue the command "sudo apt-get install rsync". Confirm with [Enter].
- Confirm the installation with [Y] and wait for the installation to be completed.
- Then enter the "sudo apt-get update" command to bring your Linux system up to date.
- For a backup with RSYNC you have to enter the command "rsync" followed by the instructions and the destination and confirm with [Enter].
- If you want to backup the "boot / grub" directory in the "/ data / backup" folder, enter the command "rsync -a / boot / grub / / data / backup". Confirm with [Enter] and the backup will be created.
- Note: Depending on the amount and size of the files to be backed up, this process can take some time. Wait for RSYNC to complete.
