Banana for diarrhea - you should be aware of this
Bananas can help with diarrhea because they contain a lot of pectin.
- These fibers swell in the intestine and thus clean the wall of the intestine from pathogens.
- The pectins work particularly well if you crush the banana with a fork after peeling. Alternatively, you can puree them.
- Bananas also contain a lot of magnesium and potassium. With this you can quickly replenish your attacked mineral balance.
- If you suffer from fructose intolerance, taking bananas is not recommended. Because this can cause diarrhea.
- If you have chronic diarrhea, bananas are of limited help. You should definitely speak to a doctor to find out the cause of this.
- You should also see a doctor if the diarrhea does not improve after 2 to 3 days.
What else helps with diarrhea
Instead of bananas, you can also use other foods.
- Apples also contain a lot of pectin. Grate an apple and peel and let the mixture stand for a quarter of an hour before you eat it.
- Cooked oatmeal also helps with gastrointestinal problems. You can quickly and easily make a suitable oatmeal yourself.
- Cooked carrots and rusks are also foods that are good for your gut.
- If you have diarrhea, you should also drink a lot. In addition to water, a vegetable broth and chamomile or peppermint tea are particularly suitable.
