Base: take your phone number with you - so it'll work
If you switch to Base, you can easily take your old phone number with you. However, there are a few steps you need to take before this will work smoothly. We will help you and explain exactly what you have to do.
Take phone number to Base with you:
You can also take your old phone number with you to Base when changing contracts. To do this, you must take the following steps:
- First of all, order the base contract of your choice. You will then receive a SIM card with a provisional number and an application form for the number portability.
- Send this form back to Base Customer Service immediately, who will do the rest for you.
- Make sure that your information exactly matches the data that your previous provider has. Therefore, compare the data on the form with, for example, that in a current letter from the previous provider.
- You may not have any data from you with prepaid cards. Then it is best to get in touch with your previous provider and store the correct data.
- The order for the number portability must arrive at Base no later than 90 days after the end of the contract, otherwise the number cannot be taken away.
- If the old contract is still running but you already want to use the number at Base, tell your previous provider that they should release the number. This usually has to be done in writing and does not require a comprehensive explanation.
- Note: In most cases, the number portability is free of charge on both sides, but prepaid contracts often involve additional costs with the old provider. Find out about this before you make your application.
