Alkaline bath: effect and application for feet and body
A base bath can have a calming effect and increase well-being, but that's not all. Our health also benefits. Find out why the alkaline bath is so good for our body.
Alkaline bath - this is how the bath affects the body
A harmonious acid-base ratio in our body is essential for our health and well-being. A disturbance in our acid-base balance is noticeable, for example, with unpleasant heartburn.
- If the acid-base balance is disturbed, our organism can no longer break down the excess acidic slag on our own. Instead, the slag is stored, with the majority being accumulated in the subcutaneous tissue. This in turn ultimately has a negative impact on our health.
- A balanced diet is certainly the key to a balanced acid-base ratio, but you can do more. With a base bath, you can make up for minor nutritional sins.
- The alkaline bath is supposed to relieve your body by flushing out the excess slag while you relax in the bathtub. However, the effect of the base bath has not been scientifically verified.
- However, the base bath cannot usually do any harm either. However, if you have any previous medical conditions, consult your doctor in advance to be on the safe side.
- In the trade you can of course also get base baths in different versions, but these are usually quite expensive. You can save yourself the money, because making a base bath yourself is, on the one hand, quite easy and, on the other hand, inexpensive.
Make your own alkaline bath - this is how it works
With the all-round soda, which has neutralizing properties, you can easily create a base bath.
- At the beginning, you have to be careful because the pH of the base bath is crucial for success. However, after you have made a base bath a few times, you know exactly how many tablespoons you need for your bathtub.
- Our tap water usually has a pH of around 7. However, for a base bath you need a pH of 8.5.
- You increase the pH of your water by adding about 80 to 100 grams of sodium. It is best to start with 80 grams and then measure the pH using a test strip. Depending on how the result turned out, add a little more baking soda to the water. Incidentally, the water temperature should be 37 to 38 degrees.
- The pores open through the warm water and the accumulated acidic slag comes to the surface. Since our skin has a pH of around 5.5, the differently charged particles ultimately neutralize each other.
- So that the alkaline bath works, enjoy it for at least 30 minutes, but much longer is better in this case. So take your time and a good book and make yourself comfortable in the bath for an hour and a half.
- The alkaline bath is actually always a pleasant relaxation for the skin. You can also check whether toxins have actually been flushed out of your body.
- Take another test strip and measure the pH of the water again. If slag was washed out, the pH of the water must now be lower than before.
- Tip: If you don't have a bathtub or don't like to bathe, you can achieve almost the same effect with a foot bath. The same rules apply to the basic foot bath as to the full bath, with the small difference that only your feet can be used. Your health benefits almost as much from the alkaline foot bath as from the alkaline bath.
Soda is said to also help with cancer, what is hidden in the next post.
