Battlenet does not start - you can do that
Occasionally, Battlenet may not start due to an error. In this practical tip, we will show you what you can do in such a case.
Battlenet does not start - how to solve the problem
If Battlenet no longer starts, there can be various reasons. Therefore, there is no one-size-fits-all approach and you should try out the following approaches in order.
- It is often sufficient to restart the PC and then run Battlenet.
- You should also make sure that you have the latest version of Battlenet installed on your computer and update it if necessary. You can also completely remove Battlenet from your system and then reinstall it.
- Try switching off your firewall, virus scanner and other security programs. If Battlenet starts now, you have to create corresponding exception rules.
- Press the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] and then select the Task Manager. Go to the "Details" tab and close the files "Agent.exe", "Battle.net.exe" and any games that are running. Then start Battlenet again.
- Open Internet Explorer and make sure that it is not in offline mode.
Delete Battlenet tool directory
If Battlenet still cannot be started, you should delete the tool directory of the software. This is then automatically recreated.
- Press the [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del]. Then select the Task Manager. In the "Details" tab, end the files "Agent.exe", "Battle.net.exe" and any games that are running.
- Open the directory in which the "Battle.net" folder is located. If you have installed Battlenet with the standard settings, it is located in C: \ ProgramData \.
- Delete the Battle.net folder. Then start the Battlenet client or your game again.
