Beamer: Build your own screen - a guide
Watching films with a projector and a self-made screen - many dream of that. This practical tip shows how you can easily build a screen for your projector yourself.
Build a screen for the projector yourself: you need it
For some, a white wall is enough, but you might prefer to build your own canvas. For this you need the following material:
- Slats and boards for the frame : The finished frame should have an aspect ratio of 16: 9. You determine the size according to how much space you have available.
- Fabric by the meter : Make a note of the area or dimensions and get the goods.
- Black paint to paint the edge of the canvas. This serves to delimit the wall.
- Screws and tackers to attach the boards and canvas.
Assembly instructions
If you have got all the materials, assemble the canvas now. It is easier if there are two of you.
- First lay the boards in front of you as you want to connect them. Then connect the boards at the respective points with screws. To additionally stabilize the whole thing, it is best to attach an additional angle to the inside and outside of the canvas frame.
- Then place the canvas on the frame so that you can attach it directly. A stapler is suitable for fastening. It is best to let the fabric protrude a little and cut off excess material after stapling.
- Once the fabric is fastened, you can draw a border on the canvas with a pencil. Depending on the size of the canvas, you can paint the border a few centimeters wide. Then paint it with black paint.
- Let the paint dry sufficiently so that it doesn't run when you hang the canvas.
