Shop online at IKEA: how it works
If you want to save yourself the trip to the furniture store, you can also shop online at IKEA. In this practical tip we will show you how this works.
Step 1: Select products in the IKEA online shop
- Open the website of the IKEA online shop.
- Click on a category like "Living room" or "Kitchens" at the top of the menu bar or on "Products" at the top left. Here you will find an overview of all available categories. If you have a specific product in mind, you can use the search above to find it more quickly.
- Click through the website until you find the items you want. If you click on the blue button "Buy online" next to the item, it will be added to your shopping cart.
- If you have all the products in the shopping cart, click on the blue link "shopping cart" in the top right corner. Here you have an overview of all articles and can delete them if necessary.
- Under the last article you will find an input field for your zip code. Enter this and click the "Calculate" button to display the postage or delivery costs depending on the order.
- Click on the blue "Order" button at the bottom right and follow the instructions in the next paragraph.
- Tip: Save money with current IKEA vouchers. You can find this on our CHIP page.
Step 2: Order items from IKEA online
- If you already have a customer profile, you can log in on the left side with your email address and your password. If this is not the case, click on the "Order" button on the right under "Shopping without registration".
- Leave your personal details here, such as your name, address, email address and telephone number. Then click on "Next" at the bottom right.
- You will receive an overview of your personal details, the delivery details and the products in the shopping cart. You should now check all of these again before you click on "Next".
- Scroll down and accept the terms and conditions. In the payment method you will only find the "Payment on delivery". Another option is not available. Small packages are usually delivered via DHL and must be paid for in cash upon delivery. Larger transports are delivered by freight forwarders, where you can also pay in cash. Up to an amount of 8, 000 euros, you can also pay with an EC card.
- If you click "Buy Now", your order will be sent to IKEA. After a short time you will receive an email with a confirmation and the expected delivery date.
Step 3: Book the optional assembly service
If you order a bed or a wardrobe and do not want to assemble it yourself, you can request a paid installation service. The costs for this vary depending on the product and the time required.
