Notification LED: change color on Android
Almost all latest-generation Android phones have a notification LED that notifies you of messages or calls. In this practical tip, we will tell you how you can change the color of the LED.
Change the color of the notification LED directly in the app
In some apps you can set the LED color in the settings.
- WhatsApp: Go to "Settings" in WhatsApp and tap on "Notifications". Under the entry "Light" you can change the color for the messages of a contact as well as for group messages. In the current version (2.11.109) you can choose from seven different colors.
- Facebook app: Go to the "Settings" of the app. Check the "Telephone LED" item. Unlike WhatsApp, you cannot choose different colors here. Instead, the LED light flashes blue when there is an incoming Facebook message.
Successful Android apps as LED all-rounders
There are two very well working Android apps that allow you to adjust the color and light duration of your notification LED.
- "Light Flow": With the free Android app you have full control over your notification LED. You can make all settings for the LED in the app. In addition, the colors can be individually adjusted for each contact. However, the app only supports "WhatsApp" in the pro version for 1.75 euros.
- "Frozen LED": With the free app you can assign an LED color to every app including WhatsApp. To adjust the color of the LED, open the app and click on the "+" in the top right corner. Select an app from the list to which you want to assign an LED color. Then set the color of the LED and the lighting duration under "Pulse speed".
- "Flash Notification": The common functions are also on board here. You can also use the camera's flash light for selected notifications. To save electricity, you can deactivate the LED notifications from a desired battery level.
Notification LED: This is how high the battery consumption is
- You don't have to worry about your battery with the notification LED. Even if the LED flashes continuously, it consumes almost no power.
- It can be different with the third-party apps mentioned above. These always run in the background and therefore use additional resources.
- Compared to other apps, however, the consumption is also very low here.
