Delete user account on Ubuntu - how it works
If you no longer need a user account on your Ubuntu computer, you can delete it easily. We will explain how you can do this in the system settings.
Remove Ubuntu users and delete personal folder
- Click the gear icon on the left side of the Ubuntu toolbar.
- In the "System" area, select the "User" entry.
- Unlock the settings at the top right using the lock symbol.
- In the user display, select the user account that you want to delete.
- Then click on the minus sign at the bottom left.
- You can still decide whether you want to keep the user's personal folder and temporary files. Depending on your choice, select "Delete files" or "Keep files".
This practical tip relates to Ubuntu version 14.04. You can also use many well-known Windows programs under Linux: For example, we explain how to install Skype on Ubuntu.
