You can make many settings for network, internet or telephony via the user interface of your FritzBox. To do this, you must first call it up in the browser.
Call the FritzBox user interface from the address bar in the browser
Since your computer is connected to the Fritzbox via network cable or WLAN, you can access the user interface via the browser:
- Enter "//fritz.box" (without the quotation marks) in the address bar of your browser. The FritzBox user interface should now appear.
- If this doesn't work, try the FritzBox's IP. Most often this is "192.168.178.1" or "169.254.1.1". You can also enter these in the browser address line as normal.
- In the event that this does not work either, AVM recommends clearing the cache, deactivating offline operation, switching off the use of a proxy server and activating and setting up the Windows DHCP client.
- Of course, you should make sure that your computer is connected to your Fritzbox either via WLAN or via LAN cable.
- If the user interface still cannot be called up, it can work wonders to switch off the Fritzbox for a few seconds.
- If necessary, you can reset the Fritzbox to the factory settings. At the latest now, as described above, you should have access to the Fritzbox user interface. But be careful: The reset deletes all configurations, such as permanently assigned IPs, or the index of USB hard drives.
Call the FritzBox user interface using the Firefox add-on
If you use Firefox as a browser, the FritzBox AddOn available on CHIP is a convenient alternative.
- You can use this to open the user interface and the AVM service portal, among other things, with a click of the mouse.
- Here's how to install a Firefox add-on.
