Does my laptop have a microphone?
Many laptops have already integrated a microphone. You can easily find out yourself if you also have one. We'll show you how it's done.
Does my laptop have a microphone?
Microphones are usually available in laptops in combination with a webcam. You will find this in the middle above the display. Next to this there is often a small hole in which the microphone sits. To check whether a microphone is really available, you have to look in the built-in hardware.
- Press the "Windows" and "R" keys at the same time, so that a small window labeled "Execute" opens.
- Enter "devmgmt.msc" there and click the "OK" button. The Device Manager opens.
- Here you can see any hardware installed. If you double-click on the "Audio inputs and outputs" item, two components are usually visible. On the one hand the "speaker" appears, on the other hand the "microphone" appears if it is installed (see picture).
- If the microphone appears in the list but does not work, read the second paragraph of this practical tip on how to fix the error.
