You can use your Apple Watch for a variety of things - including paying at the supermarket. This practical tip explains how this works in detail.
Pay contactlessly with the Apple Watch
Thanks to Apple Pay, you often no longer need a wallet to pay in the supermarket. Instead, you can add your credit or debit card to your Apple Wallet and use it to pay.
- In the first step, go to the Watch app on your iPhone and scroll under "My watch" to the item "Wallet & Apple Pay". If you haven't already done so, tap "Add Map" and follow the instructions. If your bank does not yet support Apple Pay, you will unfortunately have to be patient. You won't be able to pay with your Apple Watch either.
- If you have successfully added your card, it is now also available on the Apple Watch. You can use it to pay at all card terminals that support contactless payments.
- At the checkout, open the wallet on your Apple Watch and quickly press the side button of the watch twice in quick succession. Then hold the watch to the card terminal.
- If the payment works, you will hear a tone and a short feedback via vibration. Shortly after, the payment will also appear on your Apple Watch.
- There is no additional security question like on the iPhone. Since you use your code to verify yourself when you put on the watch, this ensures that you are wearing the watch yourself and not someone else.
An innovation of the Apple Watch 4 is that you can have a complete ECG created. We will show you how this works in our next post.
