Retrofitting a bidet: So every toilet becomes a shower toilet
A bidet can be easily retrofitted with suitable accessories and a little skill. With our tips, there is nothing standing in the way of your own hygienic shower toilet.
First of all: get the right bidet
If you want to retrofit a bidet, you first need a suitable shower toilet. You get this in two versions:
- Easy retrofitting: This version consists of a small bidet shower with an easy-to-use control panel. It is mounted between the toilet bowl and the toilet seat and can then be used.
- Toilet seat with integrated bidet: With this variant, you simply replace the complete toilet seat and replace it with the new one. After installation, this variant is reminiscent of the crazy toilets from Japan.
- Attention : If you do not have a sink in the immediate vicinity of the toilet, you either have to do without this type of retrofitting or use a longer hose. The retrofit bidets rely on the water supply.
Enjoy toilet use: Retrofitting a bidet made easy
As soon as you have decided on a bidet variant, you can start assembling the bidet:
- First you have to turn off the water in the bathroom via the main tap. The hoses for the bidet are attached to the sink and the water should therefore be turned off.
- Depending on the selected variant, you must first remove the toilet seat or only the toilet seat.
- If you have to remove the entire toilet seat, follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. The seats are clearly different from each other.
- For a simple retrofit, you have to mount the bidet on the bracket between the toilet seat and toilet bowl. Most of these have an adjustment system, which allows the bracket to be adjusted.
- Once the bidet has been installed, you must attach the hose. To do this, you have to open the cold water pipe or the cold and hot water pipe under the sink after the water has been switched off, depending on the bidet model.
- Now connect the water connection (included valve) to the pipeline, tighten it sufficiently and attach the hose to this valve. Check thoroughly that the valve and hose are properly seated.
- The bidet is retrofitted and you can enjoy the delights of an intimate shower.
