Beer pong is a popular party classic that should not be missing in any flat share. However, there is often a dispute over the beer pong rules. You can find out which are the right rules here.
What are the rules for beer pong at the house party?
There are probably as many beer pong rules as beer breweries in the world. We follow the official rules of the World Series of Beer Pong here.
- A beer pong table is 2.5m long and there are 10 plastic or cardboard cups on each side.
- Each team consists of two players. The basic idea of the game is to throw table tennis balls into the opponent's cups. If a cup is hit, this cup must be drunk and then removed from the game. The team that first hit all the cups of the opposing team won.
- The elbow must always stay behind the edge of the table when throwing. Everything else contradicts the rules and a possible hit does not count.
- Doublers count twice. If the ball first hits the table and then hits a beer pong mug, the opponent has to drink two mugs. However, the opponent may intercept the ball after doubling up.
- If both players hit a cup in a round, they get the balls back and may continue throwing until one of the two no longer hits. If both players hit a cup in a round, the opponent has to drink three cups in total.
- If the ball rotates in a circle on the inside wall of the beer pong mug, it is in accordance with the rules to blow out the ball. However, if the ball has already touched the beer, the cup is considered to be hit

What other rules are used?
- Let's be honest: discussion is as much a part of beer pong as beer and table tennis balls. That is why these rules have no universal claim to infallibility.
- In addition to the party rules, which are somewhat laissez-faire, the World Series of Beer Pong also offers the official tournament rules.
