- On Android you can use this new function from Android 8.0 and the latest WhatsApp version. You can download the latest version here.
- First start a video chat with a contact by tapping the icon in the top right corner.
- By default, video telephony is started in full-screen mode. Press the [Back] button on your smartphone.
- You have now activated the picture-in-picture function and can return to the call by tapping the green button.
- You can move the window as required by drag & drop. If you tap on the picture, the window will enlarge. Tap the "x" to end the call.

- The feature is available in iOS in all versions. Here you also need the latest version of WhatsApp, which you can download here.
- Here you have to tap on the small arrow symbol in the upper left corner to activate the picture-in-picture mode.

- Tap the window to go back to the call. You can also end the call in full screen mode.
- Note: If you leave the window, the call is ended automatically.
