Cut out the image round - how it works
If you want to cut a picture out round, you can do this with numerous graphics programs. In this practical tip, we will show you how to cut out your images quickly and free of charge.
Cut out images round: with everything except paint
- In the following instructions we use the free software Gimp. Cutting out round images is one of the basic functions here. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the standard Paint program.
- There are of course numerous other graphics programs. The Paint.NET tool has a similar structure.
- Tip: If you do not want to install complete software to edit an image, you can alternatively use Gimp Portable. Gimp is installed in a folder on your desktop, which you can then simply delete. There you have to change Gimp to German.
Cut out pictures with gimp - how it works
- Click on "Open" under "File" in the upper right corner of Gimp or drag the desired image into the window with the mouse.
- On the left in the toolbox you will find the so-called elliptical selection as the second tool in the top right.
- Now draw a circle of the desired size over the image with the mouse.
- If you are satisfied with the selection, click on "Cut" under "Edit" or use the key combination [Ctrl] + [X].
- You can open a new window with "File" and "New" or [Ctrl] + [N].
- Paste the image here via "Edit" and paste or [Ctrl] + [V].
- Then the image is saved under "File" and "Save" or [Ctrl] + [S].
- If you don't want a white background, you can color it as you like with the paint bucket from the toolbox. Alternatively, you can make the background transparent.
