Remove pictures from Picasa - Here's how
You can completely remove pictures from Picasa without completely deleting them from your hard drive. We show you how to do this in our instructions.
Picasa: Remove pictures completely
The image management software "Picasa" is an in-house photo service from Google and completely free of charge. As soon as you upload private pictures, you also hand over all property rights. Therefore, you should consider whether you want to remove private pictures and photos from Picasa:
- First open the Picasa picture software with a double click.
- Next, you can access the individual images via the folder view in the left window.
- Now select the image file to be deleted. In Windows, right-click the image and then select the "delete from hard drive" option. If you are using a Mac, you must use the control button to select the image.
- To delete an image from the Picasa database, you can alternatively mark the photo with the left mouse button and press the delete key.
- Then confirm the security question as to whether the selected image should actually be removed from Picasa by clicking the "Delete image" button.
- As soon as you click on "Delete image", the selected image will be completely deleted from the Picasa image database and the software will no longer have access to it.
- Although you selected "delete from hard drive", the image is not actually removed from your hard drive. It is only in the trash and can be restored by you at any time.
Picasa is also available as an application for the Android smartphone. In another practical tip, we will explain how to delete Picasa images from the gallery on your smartphone.
