Edit images on Windows 8 - the best tools
In this practical tip, we will show you how and with which tools you can edit images under Windows 8.
Edit images in Windows 8 using on-board tools
Just like the previous versions, the image processing software Paint is preinstalled under Windows 8. The Windows Snipping Tool is also part of the basic configuration of Windows 8. You can use it to adjust screenshots more precisely than with the Print button.
- Open the Metro interface and click the white down arrow to access the selection of all apps.
- Under "Windows Accessories" you will find the two programs "Paint" and "Snipping Tool".
Expand Windows 8: Edit pictures with the photo gallery
When you install Windows Essentials on your system, you expand your options for editing images in Windows 8:
- Windows Essentials includes the Windows Photo Gallery, which you can use to edit images directly from Explorer.
- After you have installed the photo gallery, a new icon appears in the "Start" section of the Explorer. You can use this to open pictures directly in the photo gallery.
- In the single view you will find the "Edit, arrange or share" button at the top left. Click on it to open your images in an expanded explorer view.
- Under the categories "Edit", "Create" and "View" the Explorer lists numerous features with which you can edit your images without any additional software. We present the most important tools in the picture gallery.
If the image gallery is not enough for you, you can also install other image editing programs on your system.
