If there are two screens, you can swap the positions. Each screen has a location number that helps you with the settings to change the position assigned by the operating system. Please note: Our instructions refer to Windows 10.
How to swap screens 1 and 2
The exchange of the screens is done quickly.
- Right click on an empty space on the desktop. Select the "Display Settings" item in the menu.
- You will see your screens in the following window. With a click on "Identify" the computer shows you the number on the respective desktop. This way you know which monitor is which number.
- To swap the screens, just drag one of the labeled windows to another location. In the screenshot you can see which elements are meant.
- Then click "Apply" to save the changes.
How to change the primary monitor
If you would like to appoint another screen to 1 or 2, the easiest way is via the outputs of your graphics card.
- Put the device that should be recognized as 1 in the first position.
- If you now connect the second screen via the next port, this has the number 2 in the overview.
- You decide which screen you want to use as the main display.
- In the settings, click on the screen you want and tick "Use this display as the main display".
A second screen may not be recognized. There are various reasons for this, which we will explain to you in another article.
