Screen freezes - you can do that
If your screen suddenly freezes, this may be due to outdated drivers. But other factors can also be responsible. We'll tell you how you can quickly fix these errors.
Screen freezes: the most common errors and causes
Below are helpful tips on what to do if your screen freezes:
- First check whether the driver of your graphics card is up to date. To do this, open Windows Update or go to the manufacturer's website.
- The display often freezes because the PC has become too hot. Make sure that it is not too close to the wall and that all fans are exposed.
- In many cases, dust and contaminants can cause the fans to stop working properly. You should therefore regularly clean the inside of your PC from dust.
- The graphics card may also not be installed correctly or may have come loose. Therefore, open your PC after disconnecting it from the power supply and make sure that the graphics card is firmly connected to the PC.
- There may also be a defect in your working memory. You can use this guide to check this.
- If an error has been detected in the working memory, you must replace it. If you use two or more RAM bars, you must first remove one so that you can further isolate the error.
- In some cases it can also help if you install an older driver for your graphics card. You can download this from your manufacturer's website.
