Start your PC, but the screen remains gray after startup, the error can usually be quickly remedied. In this practical tip we will tell you what you can do about it.
Screen remains gray after startup - what to do?
- First, make sure that the connection cable from the monitor is correctly connected to the PC and that the connections are properly seated.
- In addition, the cable should not have any kinks or defects. If the cable is defective or has a cable break, replace it immediately.
- There may be a problem with the graphics card. Therefore, connect the monitor to the onboard graphics card, if available.
- If you still have no picture, the cable may also be defective. Therefore use a different cable to connect.
- You can try pressing F8 several times during startup to start Windows in Safe Mode.
- If this method works, check for available updates for your graphics card.
- It can often help if you first uninstall the driver for your graphics card and then reinstall it.
- Note: If you have started Windows in safe mode, open the "Device Manager" from the "Control Panel" and click on your graphics card. Select "Previous driver" there to use an old driver.
