Make the screen brighter - how it works
You can make your screen brighter under Windows in two different ways. We'll show you what these are in this practical tip.
Change screen brightness with the keyboard
On many keyboards - especially those on laptops - you can control the brightness using function keys. The function keys are the keys F1 to F12 in the top row of the keyboard.
- The corresponding function keys are often marked with small suns or light bulbs. The exact assignment varies depending on the manufacturer. With ASUS you can adjust the brightness with the F5 and F6 keys, for example.
- For all manufacturers, the corresponding function key and the Fn key must be pressed simultaneously to make the screen brighter.
Brighten screen using power options
The energy options under Windows are used to influence the power consumption. Please note that a brighter screen consumes more power and may reduce laptop battery life. To make your screen brighter in the power options:
- Open the "Control Panel" via the Windows menu.
- Click on "Appearance and Personalization" and then on "Display".
- On the left side you will find a bar in which you can open "Adjust brightness".
- There you will find a slider at the bottom with which you can change the brightness.
- You can also get to this window if you click on the battery symbol in the task bar and then on "Adjust screen brightness".
