- The BIOS can only be opened during the boot process by using defined key combinations. Read how to get to the BIOS in this article.
- Boot order: If you want to install an operating system, you should adjust the boot order in advance. Here you determine from which drive or partition your computer should start.
- Shorten boot time: You can also deactivate unused partitions and drives in the boot menu. So they are not addressed at all when starting up.
- Start up automatically: Under "Advanced" in the BIOS, you can set that your PC always starts up automatically at the same time.
- Saving energy: Use a 32-bit system, activate "Power" or similar in the submenu. the "ACPI Support" function. For 64-bit versions, this feature is called "ACPI 2.0 Support". Under the "Suspend Mode" tab you can now make more precise settings for saving electricity. For example, the power supply of individual components can be adjusted here.
- Temperature: Under "Hardware Monitor" it is possible, among other things, to view the current temperature of the CPU (processor) and the GPU (graphics card). Optionally, you can even control the fan speeds.
- Graphics card: The "PEG Link Mode" function under "Advanced" allows you to vary the speed of your graphics card in stages. If you have installed an additional graphics card in addition to the integrated graphics chip, you can deactivate the unused unit in the "Integrated Peripherals" menu item. This saves you time when booting.
- Secure BIOS: Under "Security" it is possible to protect access to the BIOS with a password. This will prevent other people from changing settings.
