Remove bluish tint from photos - how it works
A bluish cast on photos is annoying at first, but can be removed quite easily on a PC. In our practical tip, we show which tool is suitable for this and how you should proceed.
Remove bluish tones from photos with GIMP
The GIMP image editing program is completely free and is suitable even for more demanding changes in images and photos. You can remove a bluish cast here with just a few mouse clicks .:
- First install and open GIMP on your PC.
- Then open the photo in question in the image editing program, for example via "File"> "Open".
- Now go to "Colors"> "Values" in the top bar. A new settings window opens automatically.
- At the top of the window you will see the "Channel" selection field. Change this to "blue".
- Now you have to reduce the luminosity of the blue channel. To do this, pull the middle arrow (see screenshot) slightly to the right. In the picture you can see how the bluish cast disappears.
- Sometimes there is another color cast on the picture, for example in the color red. Then change the channel to "Red" and move the middle arrow again. The photo should then get its natural colors back.
