Blog imprint - what's in it?
In this practical tip, we show you what must be in your blog imprint.
That must be in your blog imprint
The question of the content of the imprint goes hand in hand with the question of which blog you are running. Therefore, before it can be clarified what must be in the imprint, it must be clear which blog you are running.
- Private blog: Only the private blog is exempt from the imprint obligation and may be operated anonymously. Case law interprets the term "private" relatively strictly. Purely private blogs are, for example, blogs that deal exclusively with your everyday life or so-called "diary blogs". However, a blog can only be private as long as no opinion is expressed. In addition, editorial content should be avoided at all costs.
- Journalistic blog: A journalistic blog is subject to the imprint. In addition, however, Section 55 of the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty applies. After that, bloggers of "Telemedia with journalistic-editorially designed offers" have to provide information about the blogger, including the name and address. If your blog entries go beyond those of the private blog, you must provide your full name and the most important contact options (email, phone, fax).
- Company blog: The company blog is also subject to the imprint. Here you have to state all the information in the imprint that is required to set up a company. This includes the legal form, authorized representative, sales tax ID and contact data (see picture).
