Blogger: create menu - how it works
You don't need to be an HTML professional to create a menu on Blogger. We'll show you the easiest way to create a menu yourself.
Create menu in Blogger: 1. Insert gadgets in the layout
So that you can create the menu in the first place, you need "Gadgets". You can find these in the "Layout" area.
- Click "Add Gadget" anywhere. Shut down the mouse in the new window and select the item "HTML / JavaScript" (see picture). Add it with the blue plus.
- Another window then opens (see picture) in which you can now enter functions for your menu.
Enter the HTML code for the menu and add links
In a next step you should now insert the HTML codes under "Content". The space under "Title" remains free, unless you want to name your menu individually, for example with the name of your blog.
- For example, enter the following code in the "Content" section: Home | About me
- You can enter the links in the said place. Example: Insert the link to your blog homepage at the "Link to blog homepage", for example www.MeineStartseite.blogspot.com. The same applies to the "Link to" About me "and to all the following elements.
- The point "Home" and "About me" describe the link. They will later be visible as link text. You can also assign other names here, such as "Home" or "Blog". The contact and the imprint are also inserted via such a reference.
- Tip: If you want to link several articles behind a menu item, you can use "Labels". For example, if you add the "Fashion" label to fashion articles, you can use the link "//www.your-blogname.blogspot.de/search/label/mode" in the menu.
Set up menu at Blogger
When everything is entered, click on "Save". Now go back to your blog and look at the view of the menu (see picture). If you now return to the blog gadget, you can still optimize the view and refine it a little.
- For example, add the functions Menu in front of and behind the menu to make the view centered. Bold writing with a menu and italics with a menu are possible, as is an underlined menu with the menu command. Several functions can also be used at the same time.
- Instead of the hyphens, which you can recognize as menu delimitation, it is also possible to use other characters, such as asterisks (*), hyphens (-) or just spaces. Get creative and design the menu according to your wishes.
